It's been awhile...

Been away for a LONG time. Spent that time searching different areas and attending local auctions in order to accumulate all the items I needed to build. And build I did.

I was participated in the HUGE antique/craft show in Round Top, Texas. I had a fantastic show. Met some great people and had a lot of fun. Hope to return this spring. The birdhouse above was one that we had to place outside the building. WAY TOO TALL for indoors. It stands around 15ft. I was hoping didn't have to bring that one back home, a tad bit hard to load, but I love it in my yard as well! The photo below was one of my small houses.

Overall, I came home with way less than what I went down there with! Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! to all who purchased a house. I hope you enjoy it!

Should have taken better and more photos of the houses, and did, but I wasn't pleased with how the pics came out. Not going to post those. Was happy with a couple of sightseeing photos. Had to get a picture of some Texas wildflowers.

Stayed in a little town called Giddings. Beautiful courthouse and church. Did get a picture of those too.

Will try to get better at this blogging also...

Great Show!

I participated in an antique/craft show in Joplin at Effie Jane's on the 5th. First, thank you, thank you, thank you to Tommy at Effie's. She provided us with everything we needed, including food & drink! If you get the chance, stop by her place on the corner of 7th & Duquesne in Joplin. Fantastic Place!

Secondly, a huge Thank You to all that came out & bought, stopped by & chatted! This being my first show, I was a little lost. My fellow vendors were great. Quick to help and offer much needed advice and contacts. You guys are the best!

Had quite a few people interested in the chairs. Actually hated to see those go...no place to put them or they would have been mine!

To the gentleman that was set up to the right of me, Yep! You do have EVERYTHING I need for the houses! Call me!

Now I need to build...build...BUILD! Hopefully I will be accepted into the War Eagle Mill Show in October in Arkansas!

Nance Auction Service

Thanks boys! Great finds & fun times!

Treasure hunting...

Attended a local auction over the weekend. Found a few great things! We normally have quite a few auctions to attend every weekend over the summer here in SW Missouri. The tricky part is deciding which to attend. I've attended a few of the auctions conducted by this particular auction service. They are always interesting! Here is a few photos of what I took home and of course, the boys who put on the show!

Not bad for a beginning.

Beginnings

Like many beginnings, there is a fair amount of hesitation. This is no different. This blog is my first & hope many more will follow. I am, among other things, a graphic artist that recently started making birdhouses. Funky, vintage, rusty birdhouses.

In order to make these houses, I crawl through rusty, rough junk at local rusty-junky shops and attend auctions. I prefer the auctions. Something about finding the items you want, then winning them after bidding. Feels like victory!

Recently I attended an auction and after winning vintage plant stands that were do or die must haves, one got left behind. Didn't discover this until the following day. Was able to go back & there it was. Still there. Surprises like this are the best! It already had a place with birdhouse and was happy to be able to complete it. One of those people that have an idea of what I want something to look like and find it difficult to let that idea go. This is the final product.
